Is it hard to get hired as a consultant?

Consulting is one of the most competitive graduate professions to enter, but you shouldn't let this stop you from applying. Because consultants work on a contract basis, there are no established requirements to be consultants. It all depends on what the organization needs and how well you can sell your offer. Crucially, those interviews include the infamous case study.

These can be perfected with extensive practice, but they are rarely a death certificate. That means that no matter how good you are, because you could have a 100% success rate on an arithmetic test, a case study can make anyone fall on their heads. Consulting is truly a tough nut to crack. Customer demands can satisfy you, and if you're not ready for it, or if you don't want to put in the effort, it's not going to be a good fit for you.

Working with clients can be a challenge, balancing work and personal life can be difficult, and the interview process sounds a bit intense, but at the end of the day, consulting is all about helping others. The challenge, of course, is that if you don't have consulting experience, it's going to be harder to get a job at one of those firms. Which companies usually hire consultants because they want to go through some kind of change and are looking for guidance and advice. If you like to work hard, have those social skills that help you to be an effective consultant, you like to learn, you are interested in different types of businesses and problem solving, consulting could be a great career.
